The Way Forward for U-Space with EASA, GUTMA, EuroControl, and More

ANRA Technologies will host its fourth ANRA Huddle webinar, “The Way Forward for U-Space” on Tuesday, November 7, at 9am EST/3pm CET. Moderated by Phillip Butterworth–Hayes, this no-cost event will bring together senior U-Space experts from GUTMA, EASA, EuroControl, LFV, Helicus and ANRA to explore the implementation of UTM Systems and services in several European Union member states within the aviation industry and civil aviation sector. This session will address critical questions from technical, financial, and regulatory perspectives.

Panelists will shed light on various global UTM models, including:

• The Open Market Model: Here, the state takes a hands-off approach, allowing the market to evolve naturally.
• The Steering Model: The state proactively stimulates and facilitates market development in this model.
• The Integration Model: UTM seamlessly integrates with ATM (Air Traffic Management) as much as possible.
• The Participation Model: Equal cooperation from all stakeholders plays a key role.

The panel will also discuss the European regulation concerning U-space, which mandates the establishment of a CIS function. We’ll explore the current approaches adopted by European Member States to fund the creation and operation of this function. Furthermore, the panel will touch upon the certification requirements for U-space services and examine potential revenue models that may emerge to provide UTM services.
