Neuron – Sensor Network Modelling and Software Engineer

This is an incredible opportunity for a software developer, specialising in surveillance sensor modelling, to work on a truly unique project in the UK, aiming to integrate air taxis and drone deliveries into UK airspace
You will collaborate in the design and modelling of ground-based sensor networks and developing coverage maps for real world sensor installations. You will understand data fusion techniques, implement new algorithms, develop performance, environmental and topographical models. These models will be run through a simulation environment for prediction purposes
You will probably be someone from an Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics or related discipline, maybe with a background in robotics engineering. You may be a graduate or someone with a number of years of experience. But you must be proactive, work well as a team, and be open to learning and developing
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop probabilistic models of performance of multiple sensor types
- Develop sensor fusion algorithms to provide best possible localisation results
- Simulate sensor networks to develop understanding of coverage at various levels of localisation integrity
- Optimisation of sensor locations for optimal coverage
- Develop coverage maps for real world sensor network installations
Key Skills:
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics
- Academic background in AI, Machine Learning, Neural Network, Algorithms or a similar
- Stochastic system modelling
- Sensor fusion techniques (EKF, UKF, MCMC, etc…)
- Optimisation techniques
- Software development (Java, Javascript, C/C++, etc…)
- Embedded systems and microcontrollers (ARM, MIPS, OpenWRT, etc…)
- Embedded linux development (OpenWRT)
- Network protocols (UDP, TCP, REST, etc..)
- Version control systems (Git)
Qualities:
- Motivated, collaborative and quick to learn
- Scientific, data-driven, objective mindset
- Interest in drones and the future of mobility
Contract: 12-months minimum or permanent full-time
Salary: £25,000-£45,000 depending on experience
Preferred Start Date: Before 1st June 2021
Location: London or Cranfield (work from home initially, negotiable long term)
