Simultaneous Multi-Drone Flight Functionality Added to eMotion 3.8.0 Release

senseFly, the global leader in fixed-wing drones, is excited to announce the release of the latest version of its popular flight-planning software, eMotion 3.8.0.
With eMotion 3.8.0., senseFly drone operators can enjoy a host of improvements and added functionality, including the ability to fly up to four drones simultaneously from a single computer.
“Our customers are always telling us how important the quick and efficient capture of high-quality data is to their work,” said Andy McClellan, Product Owner for eMotion. “With this latest update, we’re happy that multi-drone flights can help with that in a big way.”
Drones operators that need to efficiently map large areas and/or large project sites will benefit greatly from eMotion 3.8.0’s new multi-drone feature.
While the senseFly eBee X fixed-wing drone can map up to 500 ha (1,235 ac) at 400 ft in a single flight, the introduction of multiple, simultaneous drone flights offers even more coverage and in less time.
Depending on the project specifications, using multiple drones can multiply your coverage based on the number of drones you fly simultaneously.
This is especially useful for time-sensitive flight scenarios. For example, mapping a public space or building, such as airports or highways, or in difficult flight conditions where the window to map is limited due to unstable weather.
Multi-drone operation also makes it easier to map linear infrastructure and sites. Operators can, for example, position themselves in the middle section of an area they wish to map and send their drones in opposite directions, helping them to map with even greater speed and efficiency.
Of course, safe flight operations are a top priority, which is why eMotion contains features for Air Traffic Awareness (pingRX) that helps operators maintain high safety levels during flights.
