Innovative Drone Developer – Huntsville North Alabama

Dynetics, an employee-owned company, is seeking a talented Innovative Drone Developer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Dynetics provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions.

Dynetics is looking for an energetic candidate to take a leadership role in the development and testing of unique small UAS products. These sUAS platforms anchor a growing and dynamic business area for Dynetics. We’re looking for someone to foster customization of these aircraft for a variety of customers with a focus on developing a system to meet their challenges.

These are unique missions and may require creative, groundbreaking ideas, coupled with engineering discipline and rigor. You’ll interface with technical contributors from multiple disciplines, project managers, chief engineers, subcontractors, vendors, corporate executives, and directly with customers.

This broad exposure will require the ability to converse at a technical level but also summarize effectively and will provide the platform to help instill a vision and put together the pieces to make it a reality. Every day will bring new challenges, require innovative problem solving and critical thinking, and bring a meaningful product closer to reality.

Basic Qualifications:

B.S. degree from an ABET accredited school in engineering or applicable discipline with 1 year or more related experience is required.
Aviation experience (Tactical or consumer UAS/drone, general aviation, RC, etc.) and understanding of flight principles and best practices.

The ability to understand interactions of complex systems, work under conflicting or changing requirements or constraints, have sound engineering intuition, and make system-level recommendations.
20% travel is expectedly in this role to support various test events.

Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville -North Alabama, AL area.

Other Qualifications:

Advanced degree with 5+ years of experience in the field

Familiarity with the state-of-the-art in the UAS industry and experience with common systems, components, and software including Pixhawk, ArduCopter, and Mission Planner.

 Experience planning and conducting flight testing with UAS
 FAA certification (remote pilot, private pilot, etc.)
 Guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) experience
 Experience with embedded software and coding languages (Matlab, Python, C++, etc.)
 Experience with unique and challenging aviation problems
 Project planning, project management, systems engineering, and/or risk management experience
 Experience with DOD or Government customers Security Requirements: Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.
