Software engineer | System engineer at DEMCON unmanned

DEMCON unmanned is looking for a talented software engineer to join its team of seasoned drone engineers in Delft, Netherlands. We are a new company focusing on automated solutions in the commercial (B2B) drone market. As an early hire, you will be involved in defining the company’s product portfolio and business strategy. You bring an open attitude and a creative mind, as well as a healthy appreciation of system robustness that helps us scale up fast.

Your tasks

You are responsible for designing the system concept, focusing on software. You take product concepts to the next level, specifying system requirements and defining reusable building blocks to execute our roadmap. For example, your tasks could include prototyping and building a mission planning system for (a fleet of) drones, a drone data management system, or a cloud computing infrastructure for drone data processing.

You know how to realize the project in different roles. As a system architect you oversee the complete system with a focus on the relationship between hardware and software. You are responsible for programming the software. Your project management skills help make sure that the activities are being coordinated and executed. Finally, you will be involved in defining our product portfolio and business strategy.

You are a system engineer with

BSc or MSc Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, Aerospace, or equivalent;
3-5 years working experience in the industry as a software engineer/system engineer in mechatronic design teams (or comparable), with a broad interest and competences;
skills in multiple high level languages (Python, NodeJS) as well as low level (C, C++) and/or static languages (Java, Go);
proven experience with defining, developing, testing, and shipping products;
effective prototyping skills;
conceptual ability, persuasiveness and decisiveness and you are able to think ‘out-of-the-box’ and result-oriented;
strong communication skills and adaptability and you have an open attitude;
a mastery of the Dutch and English language.
