New sensors for Skeldar

UMS Skeldar, one of Europe’s multi-platform Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) providers, announced today that it expands the capabilities of its SKELDAR V-200 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) following successful trials alongside German partner ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH.

The high-tech weather sensors will further enhance the capabilities of the SKELDAR V-200. The flight test demonstrated the versatility of the platform as an advanced high capacity test asset, able to integrate and interchange ready-to-use sensor types. The long-standing strategic agreement between UMS Skeldar and ESG follows on from ILA Berlin Air Show 2016 and German Navy workshop in Linstow earlier this year, and further positions the company for eligible RPAS solutions for deployment within German Federal and civilian contracts, such as the German Navy, the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces), and civil procurement agencies.

The partnership with ESG also includes a range of certification services, alongside the provision of the UMAT Ground Control Station which has been integrated inside ESG’s Flexible Mobile GCS of the Unmanned Mission Avionics Test Helicopter (UMAT) for the R-350, with potential migration to the SKELDAR V-200.

Formed through the joint venture between UMS Aero Group and Saab, UMS Skeldar’s line-up of platforms provides a comprehensive solutions portfolio including, the Fixed Winged F-330 and F-720, and the Rotary R-350, in addition to the SKELDAR V-200.
