AUVSI Cascade Chapter Announces the final agenda for UNMANNED SYSTEMS for FIRST RESPONDERS.

The AUVSI Cascade Chapter has announced the final Agenda for its March 19 & 20 event titled UNMANNED SYSTEMS for FIRST RESPONDERS, Getting Airborne with UAVs in the Pacific Northwest, “Permitting & Performance” Workshop.
The two day event includes a workshop that instructs attendees how to operate Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for Commercial Purposes. The workshop walks attendees through the process to submit a SFOC (Special Flight Operations Certificate), in Canada. Eric Edwards from Transport Canada, will lead this discussion. Also covered will be the FAA’s COA writing process, that allows limited operation of UAS in the USA. The workshop is a hands-on day, that also covers Legal issues, including HUERTA (aka FAA) V. PIRKER – LEGAL RAMIFICATIONS FOR COMMERCIAL UAS OPERATIONS IN THE USA. And an Investors Panel discussing Investment Opportunities in this emerging industry.
The second day of the event features a briefing from Marty Rogers, Director Alaska Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems, from thePan-Pacific Test Site, one of the six FAA sanctioned UAS Test Sites, that includes three ranges in Oregon. And the Department of the Interior’s UNMANNED AVIATION PROGRAM – SUCCESSES, CHALLENGES AND THE PATH AHEAD, Brad Koeckeritz, Unmanned Aircraft Specialist, U.S. Department of the Interior, Office of Aviation Services. Additional briefings include; THE ROBOTIC AIRCRAFT FOR PUBLIC SAFETY (RAPS) PROGRAM OVERVIEW, the REMOTELY OPERATED VEHICLE TEAM – Sergeant Tristan Sundsted, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, and HOW SENSORS ON UAS CAN ASSIST EMERGENCY RESPONDERS.
