UAV to check on Jumbo Savari

Mysore: With barely a few days left for the curtain to go up on the Mysore Dasara celebrations, the police is making sure security is tight for the 10-day cultural extravaganza that sees tourists from the world over descend on the city.
As many as 6,227 police have been deployed for the celebrations and 200 CCTV cameras installed at various venues to keep an eye on the huge crowds that fill the city this time of the year. For the first time an unmanned aerial vehicle brought from Mumbai will take care of security all along the route of the Jumbo Savari, according to Mysore police commissioner M.A. Saleem.
Speaking to reporters, he said personnel of the internal security wing of the state will be deployed along the Jumbo Savari route and at Bannimantap. As many as 461 traffic policemen will be brought from Bengaluru to Mysore to regulate traffic besides 400 NCC cadets and 50 private security guards.
