Hinds offering spring UAV training
The Hinds Community College Aviation Department will offer a limited number of slots in the spring 2013 semester for students interested in the program for training in piloting unmanned aerial vehicles.
In August, Hinds began training students interested in piloting UAVs to address the expected increasing demand within the civilian U.S. market.
The spring semester begins Jan. 14. The first two UAV courses, ANT 2723 (UAS Basic Flight Skill Development) and ANT 2733 (UAS Intermediate Flight Skill Development) will be taught Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8:30 p.m. during the 16-week semester specifically designed for non-traditional students.
An online Private Pilot Ground course will accompany these spring offerings and students can complete the UAV training during the May 29-June 25 summer semester.
